Westphalian Counted Thread Pouch

Started Jan 2003, completed March 2003. Made using 28 count evenweave linen and 2 strand Maderia silk thread. This was my first really historically accurate piece, made for WCoB competition. The finished bag is about 3 1/2 inches wide. The drawstring and handle is made from plaited silk thread. I did want to use fingerloop braiding but I couldn't figure it out in time. Approx. 40 hours work in this one.

This is the completed panel, before it was made up into the pouch.

This image is the original piece which mine was based on. For more details about this item, see: A Stitch Out of Time.

Also see my documentation for this item: Westphalian Counted Thread Bag - May, 2003 (.pdf 223kb)
