Anglo-Saxon Inspired Goldwork LOG Pouch

5th June , 2005

This pouch is Anglo-Saxon inspired. The design for the stag comes from the Whetstone found at Sutton Hoo. The stag will be done in goldwork and the stars in freshwater pearls. While Anglo-Saxon inspired, it would be suitable for any early period personna, as the construction will be based on a number of existing relic pouches from the period.

This is the progress on the pouch after 3 hours. I would have had more done but we had several visitors last night.

13th July, 2005

This is the pouch at about 5 hours work. The pearls are fiddly, but look nice.

After finishing the Blackwork shirt, I had nothing else to do, was motivated and got a better needle, so I managed to get the last of the pearls on in a couple of hours. Pouch just needs to be made up now.

This is the finished pouch. I finally got around to doing proper tailors buttonhole stitch. I forgot to put in the handle, so I fudged this one, making the draw strings extra long and they can be used to hang the pouch. Only a small fudge, as there are examples of pouches like this from period.
