Oriental Lilies Cover

This project is nearly finished. I only have to put some beads in the centre and then make it up and its finished.

This project is a wedding album cover I am making for my Aunty for her daughter who just got married. It is pale pink paper silk ground, with white raw silk for the petals and green raw silk for the big leaves. The small leaves are done using Eterna Stranded silk. The outline is gold cording couched with YLI silk thread. The border is gold cord and pearls.

This is the image I had to work with, of the brides bouquet. I drafted the pattern full size.

This image shows the petals drawn on the silk and the green silk stem stitch for the green bits.

Once the embroidery on the petals was done, they were cut out. They were then tacked (with the edges turned) to a felt petal the same size and shape. This gave me the top layer of each petal.

On the ground I layered a series of felt cutouts. There are 4 layers for each petals. I then appliqued the final silk petal over the top of those on the ground fabric. I then outlined each petal in gold cord.
