Elizabethan Bookcover

This is the Elizabethan Bookcover . It took me about 2 months to do. That is working on it in one and two hour periods. Stitching done using Maderia and Au Ver A Soie D'Alger silk threads. Also used fake pearls and glass see beads. March and April, 2003. It is from the Elizabethan embroidery series by Gregson. It's not historically accurate but is historically inspired. I enjoy the effect of the detatched buttonhole petals on the rose. I really easy stitch to do but give big bang for the effort. I changed the colours of the bottom flower and I have to say I'm not 100% happy with the results.
